the launch
of its new
Open Source
Support Solutions
practice which
will provide
consulting
and support
services as
well as bundled
integration,
and development
for open source
software products
which address
the rapidly
growing voice-over-IP
(VoIP) market
as well as
the growing
Linux operating
system based
server solutions
market.
NTG’s
Open Source
Support practice
will offer
support packaging
and deployment
of a Linux
distribution
based on the
Advanced Telecom
Computing
Architecture
(AdvancedTCA).
AdvancedTCA
is a new series
of industry
standard specifications
for the next
generation
of carrier
grade communications
equipment
as defined
by the PCI
Industrial
Computers
Manufacturing
Group (PICMG).
The initial
focus will
be on supporting
comprehensive
VoIP network
services,
which will
be based on
the ASTERISK
VoIP soft
switch running
the NTG Advanced
Telecom Computing
Linux (NTG-ATC
Linux) operating
system and
integrated
with NTG’s
OSS product
suite.
NTG-ATC Linux
distribution
will feature
Linux support
for real time
systems as
well as advanced
hardware monitoring
and system
diagnostic
features with
support for
core VoIP
applications
such as the
Asterisk VoIP
Server and
various trunking
and signalling
gateways ranging
from DS0/FXO/S
to PRI SS7.
Fail-Over
and fault
tolerance
as well as
general tight
coupling to
the PCI bus
and controllers
for a variety
of telecom
interfaces
are intended
to be key
features.
NTG’s
Open Source
Support consulting
practice will
provide packaging,
deployment
and support
for Asterisk,
an open source
VoIP soft
switch, which
is a full
VoIP Server
including
standard telephony
features such
as unified
messaging,
call control,
advanced call
routing full
IAX, SIP and
H.323 support
as well as
integrated
support for
various PSTN
gateways.
Running on
NTG-ATC Linux,
advanced routing
protocols
as well as
security,
hardware diagnostics
and system
maintenance
utilities
required by
network service
providers
are included.
